Just Jamming your Pretty Social Media Posts Isn’t Marketing! (sorry, love)

Well, for starters, your business page on Facebook has a very slim chance of showing on your followers newsfeeds. Like, a less than 1% chance.  The newsfeed, for you I’m sorry my business friend, is dead.

However, paid advertising, video’s, stories, groups and bots has never been as lucrative as it is right now.  And the low cost of paid ads won’t last!  Be in now.  Or miss out.

And Don’t Boost your Pretty Posts
This one reason, seriously, was why JAM Social Media was born.  Some marketers are still posting pretty posts – or worst still – boosting posts – which is just a no-no! (pardon me, Facebook, but boosted posts are a joke and most of the time a waste of money).

Many people think a boosted post is an ad. NO, it is not.  Facebook calls it an ad sometimes but it is not an ad.

Ok, whew, got that out of our system.

If you’ve read some of our other blogs, you’ll be saying ‘Yes I KNOW I need a brand story and a well-thought-out plan – a sequenced strategy that includes psychological elements!”

OK. The big thing here is that social media and digital marketing changes ALL the time.

Once upon a time we thought we were ‘it’ if we could rattle off our target market along the lines of…

“My target market is women aged 30-55, who work full time, has a couple of kids, live in the suburbs, is time poor and has a disposable income of $xxxx.”

This target market example paints a picture of the type of person they are, and gives a good clue as to what their life would be like.

Now, however, our target markets now must be divided into micro-niche markets.
Sure, we might take the above target market and break it into another 3 segments based on their behaviour on social media.

This way we can accurately research what each segment is looking for, what they enjoy, the experiences they value – perhaps even the coffee they drink, the type of mobile phone they use or the magazines or blogs they read…

From this, together in a workshop for your business, we can put together a language board – which outlines how we are going to talk to your people.  The sequence of this language we use then shows them that we understand their problems, their struggles and stresses – and then your business becomes their answer.

This is not dodgy!  It allows us to share information to a group of people who are looking for a business just like yours!
